About Lumifyd

At Lumifyd our flagship initiative is our Intergenerational Community Resource Center (I.C.R.C.), a pioneering project that serves as a hub for seniors and youth activities with a special focus on Haitian, Hispanic, and African American seniors and youth. The I.C.R.C. addresses the dearth of language- and culturally-appropriate services in our community.

What makes Lumifyd unique is that the I.C.R.C. is the only intergenerational community resource center of its kind in South Miami Dade, spanning from Kendall to Florida City. Incorporated in 2021, our office is located in Florida City, where the center is established.

The I.C.R.C. provides a safe and welcoming environment for seniors and youth to come together to engage in a wide range of activities, receive support, and build relationships with their peers. Some of the programs and services offered at the center includes:

• Social activities: Regular social events such as game nights, movie screenings, and potluck meals will be organized to bring seniors and youth together and foster a sense of community.
• Educational programs: The center will offer educational programs such as computer and language classes, youth after-school programs, adult literacy, citizenship classes, and workshops on promoting healthy living.
• Health and wellness services: Fitness classes for seniors, health screenings, and access to medical professionals will be provided to promote overall well-being.
• Social support services: Counseling, mentoring, employment services, and assistance with college applications will be available to support the needs of seniors and youth.
• Leadership skills training and mentorship programs: Opportunities for leadership development and mentorship will be provided to empower youth and seniors to become leaders in their community.
• College tours: Organized college tours that exposes youth to higher education opportunities and inspire them to pursue their academic goals.
• Music classes: Music classes are offered as a creative outlet for both seniors and youth to explore their musical talents and passions.
